Aaron's going away party

Aaron Ellsworth has left SVU and gone home to prepare for his mission sometime this summer. We had a little party for him with Rock Band and apple pie. We made him a candy bar card and his favorite dessert with ice cream. We'll miss him. He's truly been the life of SVU.

Mini-Weekend with Travis

Cici's pizza Outside Liberty University- it was FREEZING!! A bunch of pollution that got Travis into talking about the stupidity of liberals and eventually led us to discussing September 11th... A dam and pretty waterfall. Travis came down to visit Friday afternoon through Saturday evening. We had such a great time just hanging out and doing things together. Friday night we hopped in the car and drove the long windy road to Lynchburg. It seemed like a good idea at the time since the next best place was Roanoke and we'd already been there. Trav wanted to take the longer more scenic route- in the dark. I guess we didn't really think about actually being able to see the stuff. We finally found a movie theater, not at the location that the GPS sent us to but fairly close. We watched "Bedtime Stories" which was a cute movie. There was some other movie coming out called Dog Hotel I think and so some society for the Humane Treatment of Dogs was there. A lady in a dog costume asked if we wanted to donate. I, being a rather poor college student, declined. After I stood there for a while thinking of my own dang dogs and how cute all the puppies at the theater were AND what my mom would have done- I gave the lady my one last single crumpled dollar. She thanked us very much. I guess nobody had been taking her seriously. Everyone in that place was holding a dog- like take your furry rat to work day. For that reason I did not feel the need to get popcorn. Anyway, after the movie we stopped by the hotel that Woodson's track team was staying in (which just so happened to be around the corner practicly) and totally surprised Todd (Travis's brother), his friends and the coach. After making our appearance and signing a few autographs as well as fending off the paparazzi we got back in the car for a windy drive back to SVU. Saturday morning we got back in the car to take the drive to Lynchburg again (it was a little less than an hour). We searched forever to find something to eat and eventually resorted to having breakfast at Wendy's around noon. Not quite what I want first thing in the morning (yes noon is still breakfast time on Saturdays)- chicken sandwich. From there we went to the track meet which we were about 3 hours early for Todd's event for (another one of Travis's ideas :)) and just sat inside the place watching people round the one corner over and over. I've decided with as much shoving, tripping, and falling I saw I now can consider track to be a contact sport. I saw my own high school track coach- which was surprising since I didn't think Lake Braddock would be there. That was an akward excange. I think he thought I was some sort of traitor since I was supporting someone from a rival school. ug. From the meet Trav and I went to Cici's pizza which was packed. There was some birthday party going on. From there we drove back to SVU and up to the Blue Ridge parkway to check out what views people have told us about. We stopped at an occasional scenic overlook to take pictures and drove to a couple places Travis wanted to see before he left, yes I mean the football game and practice fields. It was really sad to see him go home but he's promised to visit again. It was a really great weekend and I'm so glad he made the trip to visit!! Here is a video of us driving back to SVU after hanging at the meet>

Abby's 19th Birthday!!

Don't ask questions. It's a nickname we've given her... since Abby and Abstinence both start with the same syllable. We find it humorous and she responds to it. For Abby's 19th Birthday we all went to Waffle House to celebrate. It turned out to backfire on us since we had volleyball practice right after. Jumping with a stomach full of waffles is not all that easy. We had a good time trying to figure out our tabs and orders since our server seemed a bit frazzled. No idea why since we were the only customers. It IS waffle house I suppose. One thing I have never understood- why they put a ton of cold fake strawberries and strawberry goo on what should be hot waffles. That always throws me off. It was fun to get out and we hope Abby had a great first birthday away from home :)

Mission Call

My best friend/boyfriend of over 4 years has gotten his mission call for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He will leave March 4th for Salt Lake City, Utah. He has chosen to willingly serve the church for 2 years and will be devoting all of his time and energy to His work. He is giving up many luxuries those of us at home will still be able to enjoy (most music, TV, phone, football, me!!). I personally am very proud of Trav and many others are too. I know he will work very hard and do a great job. I'll miss you T!

In the boonies

Kylie, Abby, and I went to see the new movie "Bride Wars" in the Lexington theater. A word to the wise- it is a cute, predictable, chick flick. It was a nice and very needed night out with my girls. Afterword we took the opportunity to take some random pictures along the side of the road at various spots. Coming from a "dangerous" area I guess I'm a little more paranoid than these guys... maybe I am just more practical. Abby has been wanting to take us to Foam Henge... yes foam. It is a replica of Stone Henge. It was too dark and rainy so see anything so we decided to find another place for a photo shoot. We stopped at the Natural Bridge gift shop and wax museum. They were closed, doesn't mean we couldn't take pictures outside. On our way home we stopped at some creepy fort looking thing with the 10 commandments and King Tut on the fence. Seemed kind of shady to me. Afterword we wanted to get milkshakes at Hardees. Much to our dismay it was closed. Yes people everything in this ahem "college town" closes around 9 pm. It was lame. I'm glad I got to hang out with these girls, we always have fun even if I think we might get kidnapped in the process :)-- don't worry ma it wasn't that bad.

Baltimore Aquarium

Kris and Joshie Travis and I Josh wanted a picture in front of the fishie eyes. My mom, Travis, and I went to the Baltimore Aquarium with the Spiveys on Friday. We went in later in the evening and got cheaper tickets- not like it mattered it was all the same stuff. Before we went in we went to the inner harbor and got dinner. Josh really enjoyed my lo main noodles. When we went into the exhibit I carried sleeping Sophie around most of the time. Josh liked to push his way through people to get up to the glass windows to see the exhibits. We went into the dolphin show. I really enjoyed that actually. They have really trained those animals well. Josh was interested for a while and then decided he wanted to come share my coconut drink with me, missing a lot of the action. I didn't mind:) It was a fun day but enough fish is enough. It is a one time thing... except the dolphin show. That was way cool.

New Years with the Spivey family

On New Years day my mom and I woke up and realized we didn't have any plans. We figured we'd drive the hour and a half up to Hampstead, MD to hang out with Lindsay, Kris, Josh, and Sophie. I drove us all the way (first time!!) and we just spent a few hours hanging out. We watched some TV, ate some ribs and chicken Kris fixed, held Soph, and played with Josh. It was a fun time, as usual. They are the cutest little kids ever.
